There have been some threads asking for clothing advice when moving, but asking about what people usually do when moving seems to be an original topic...

Have you revamped your wardrobe when relocating? Would you if you were to move in the future? How much does it depend on climate, cultural, and lifestyle changes?

Let's limit this to a few years after graduation. It's common for young people to revamp the wardrobe, especially when new in college or graduating.

Absolutely - dressing well is all about being appropriate to the circumstances/environment. If those factors change why wouldn't your wardrobe require tweaking if these factors changes.

Of course! This is the reason I joined this forum. Recently moved to NYC and lets just say I'm not in Kansas anymore.

A few truths in men's clothing remain constant regardless of location: we dress conservatively at work in a similar manner to co-workers and superiors. When not at work, we dress to reflect our own style. And we always dress to impress in the evenings. This IMHO is the foundation of day-wear, evening-wear, and conservative business dress (for lack of a better term). People on this forum choose to take these tasks seriously. I do it to wear the badge of a gentleman as quality of dress often implies quality in other areas of life as well.

While there is a drastic sartorial difference between my hometown and the big city, sometimes what remains the same is more important.

Wouldn't the only reasons to revamp be climate, work atmosphere or upgrade to wardrobe?

Are there any other reasons make one change his/her clothing?

Sure. They include major changes in physical fitness and realizing that the current look does not work for whatever reason (maybe that falls under "upgrade" in most cases).

Yes once due to change of location, basically because there's no Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, River Island, Matalan, Burton, Next, etc. in Xilinhot. Climate is somewhat different as well, UK is temperate, here the temperature goes from -40C in winter to +40C in summer, extremely dry, cold desert.

Like the poster above, climate was the big factor for me. Moving from the east coast to west coast in the US translated to less chance to wear tweed, much less a coat of any sort. Also, while the job description was the same (moving within same company, different offices) the office culture was different. So while my wardrobe changed, it was AFTER the moving was done and over with that it happened.

The "would" part, anyone? That was included mainly because many people in "Men's Clothing" seem dedicated to classic style and therefore maybe very resistant to moving-related style changes.
