So about a month ago, i was at a mall in scottsdale and this place, "hub", had some nude slim jim's. i'd tried on their regular ralph before and didn't really like it, but i knew that the slim jim was a slimmer fit. i tried some on, and ended up buying a pair of 31/32 dry japan for way more than i should have. i've come to the conclusion that i need thin finns instead, the slim jim gives me the same problem as my apc's - not skinny enough below the knee!

now, do i a) have them professionally tailored to have a taper. or b) sell, and buy thin finns from denimbar at a reasonable price.

i have no idea how much it would cost to have them tapered, or who to go to! i just saw a pair that someone had done this to, and they looked good. the jean fits pretty well except for this issue, although the next pair of anything i buy will be a 34 inseam. please weigh in!

i would sell, but i'm a purist. i don't have my jeans hemmed, much less tailored.

if you feel you paid too much for jims, i don't think throwing more money at the issue is a satisfactory resolution.

I had my Svens tapered and they turned out great IMO. I believe Sauce tailored his RRDS as well to good effect. As chronoaug said, it will cost about $20 to have them tapered.

Yep, after buying RRDGs, I tailored my RRDS's (removed the bootcut, made it a straight leg). Worked fine. I think of jeans like I think of any other item of clothing: once it's mine, I have no problem slicing it up to make it fit the way I want to. Less like a cover band, more like a remix? Plus, depending on how much you've worn those Jims, you're kind of pot committed, aren't you? Best to make whatever alterations you need to make the purchase worthwhile.

This is like a -1 on DDML's post... sorry, man.

esp with the way Jims are made at the inner/outer seams, they'd be really easy to taper without losing anything aesthetically

I'd taper them to about a 7" leg opening, if you want a Finn-ish look

Alright, thanks for the info so far guys, i think i'm going to wait till this weekend to decide the fate of the nudies. My apc on the otherhand, are in desperate need of some tapering. How do they do that exactly? Do they just cut the fabric on the inside of the leg and resew it? I don't want the selvage to be injured!
