So I've bought two ties on eBay from this seller (ilcravattaiomatto). To me, they are certainly fake:

    1. Their touch is very coarse, coarser than my grocery bags.

    2. The patterns are poorly printed (look at the blue and red running into the white areas).

    3. The lustre suggests polyester.

    4. The general miserable looking upon close examination resembles ties sold at $ 2 in China (maybe less).

They appear quite high quality to be fakes. However they do lack the hand stitching of Borrelli's that I have seen.

I'm x so sure they are fake but I do know there are fake Marinella's on the Bay. So I would not be suprised if fake Borelli ties are popping up now.

Whoever is making these fakes took the time to finish the tie with the neats ending precisely on the tip, which -- when not done -- is a dead giveaway for fakes. If they are fake, then they are very good fakes. The printing problems could be the very reason they are even on ebay in the first place.

What does the label feel like? Plastic? is the label printing/embroidery fuzzy? What is the material these ties are made from? It looks coarse in your pics.

I agree that pattern runs could be the reason they are on ebay presumably at a discount.
There are shitty, cheap Borrelli shirts floating around out there with plastic buttons, no handiwork etc. It's inconclusive as to whether or not they are fakes as a number of reputable dealers have sold them. It's speculated that these lower quality shirts were produced for many of the discount online flash sale sites. Could that be the case for these ties as well?

The details look basically the same as my Borrelli ties, down to the packaging, the tag and the shade of pink on the doohickey holding the fold together. Might help if you showed the inside tag.

I suspect this is just a different type of material than your usual silk tie.

Well, the tag reads "100% seta silk Made in Italy".

I agree that the construction is quite good on the ties.

Yeah, those are real. The details resemble the Borrellis I own.
