How does one wear a decent hat with a trench coat, without it looking like a costume? Right now I stick with a wool charcoal touque, but that's only for cooler weather. What do people wear during light rain or just chilly evenings?

I would think a fedora or trilby would work and look great, but at 23, I feel it would look like I'm trying to adopt a look, rather than have it my own.

Any advice, and/or pics, are most appreciated.

anytime anyone wears many things some will think you're adopting a looks. Who cares. I wear a fedora half of the winter and I'm 32.

If you wear a hat with anything and think it's costumey or labored that's exactly how it will come off to people. Just find one that looks good on you, put it on and forget you're wearing it. That's how it's done.

You wear a decent quality fedora that fits the shape of your face, that's how. If you wear one that looks bad on you, it'll come off as costume.

And wearing a brimmed hat is really helpful when dealing with rain. Keeps everything off our face.
