Harris Tweed (or other tweed) fabric suppliers

I'm looking to get a sportcoat made in plain brown or brown herringbone tweed. I'd go with the Brooks or J. Press options, except I really like side vents and I'm somewhat particular about jacket length. So I need to find some brown tweed fabric.

Does anyone know of any reputable suppliers that sell by the yard/meter? Someone had once suggested Elliott Weavers in Scotland, but either their site has been down for a while or they're no longer in business.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Would you care to comment on the style and quality of the harris tweed shop stuff? They have some nice looking jackets and reasonable prices. Thanks.

I'd also be interested to hear how the quality is. I've been looking for something like

for a while now and haven't been able to find anything from P&H or W Bill.

NHTC does not have a web site. They are reasonably responsive to email and do send swatches. I have a couple jackets and a couple suits from their cloth.

A. Elliot's quality is comparable to NHTC.

I have not ordered from The Harris Tweed Shop.

This site lists the weights of Harris tweed fabrics at 7-8oz or 310-340g/m. Doesn't that sound a little light? The conversion from oz/yd to g/m looks off, too.

Remember, these are 36" goods, i.e. roughly half the width of the average suiting.

You need roughly 2 meters for a jacket with a suiting width, so, I'm guessing roughly 4 meters for the single width material?

Yes, you need to double it.
