I'm looking at a pair of Harris shoes on Yoox, going for $215. Are these Blake welted? How would these compare to the Stowes? I did a search on the forum, but any association of the terms "shoes" and "Harris" gives me a large number of A. Harris's posts

Any information would be appreciated.

Harris shoes are primarily Blake-Rapid, which means the insole and midsole are stitched directly together, and then the sole is stitched on in the same manner as a Goodyear welted shoe. They are nicely made and nicely finished shoes. Well worth the $215, though the Grenson's at $150 are still a better deal. It might come down to styling for you - I can't advise on that as the link does not work...

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure why the link doesn't work - its the only Harris on Yoox right now - whole cut, in a medium brown.

I like the shape of the toe box a lot, but I'm debating whether its worth the extra moolah right now. On the other hand, I might just go for the Harris and a Grenson Rugby, assuming the new shipment has some in my size.

A profligacy of riches.

I have in fact just purchased a pair of Harris on Yoox --- my first pair. Will post pictures when it gets here.

I have only seen them a few times at Barney's New York. The leather is very nice, though I can't remember the construction. I bought them (tan/brown half brogue) 'cos I liked the colour. If they don't work, I'll probably flip them on eBay.

Unfortunately, naturlaut ordered the wrong size, so his mistake is my gain. These are very nice shoes, leather is soft ala Mantellassi, construction seems to be as Mr. Harris states.

Does anyone know if there's going to be a new shipment of Grensons?

Chris seemed to be not so sure that there would be. But that was a while ago...

Are Harris shoes the ones with the big "H" stamped on the soles?

I've always wondered whether they were worth purchasing - I passed up on buying them, brand new, at Marshall's in the DC area since I hadn't heard of them at the time.

Last Saturday Louie said they were still working on it and seemed hopeful that they would get some more.
