Activity. Hobby. Sure.

Competition. Sport. Uh, no.

Hard, yes. But not statistcally improbable like a perfect game or 8 points in 9 seconds.

Statistics define sport?

The sad thing is ... I was once a serious competitive volleyball player. Bob Costas, on ESPN, said "we will never respect a sport with a bikini contest" speaking of Beach Volleyball. 2 years later, ESPN2 started airing "pro beach hockey" which was hosted by Appreciation stars... ridiculous. Anyway... it started there, and it culminated when I heard a guy (I can't remember which one) on SportsCenter say "I think competitive eating is much more of a sport and much more interesting than professional tennis". So Sad

The Federer/Nadal rivalry has been incredibly exciting for anyone who gives a ****. And if you work for ESPN, you ought to give a ****... I'm just sayin.... AND... one more vote for whoever mentioned the Triple Crown ... 32 years and counting...

Is there a triple crown in soccer? I told you, the hardest accomplishment in sports is sitting through an entire match, never mind caring about the damn sport.

My girlfriend (college tennis player/ fanatic) says the golden slam is the hardest. Only done once by steffi graf back in the 80's. but that's tennis so....

Count me in for multiple tour de france jerseys, 59 in golf, or perfect game in baseball.

The Golden slam very circumstantial... based on number of opportunities, it is fairly common. from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_S...ar_Golden_Slam The term Golden Slam (initially "Golden Grand Slam") was coined in 1988 when Steffi Graf won all four Grand Slam singles tournaments and the singles gold medal in tennis at the Summer Olympics in the same calendar year.[3] Tennis was not an Olympic sport from 1928 through 1984 (except as a demonstration sport in 1968 and 1984); therefore, many top tennis players from the past never had the chance to complete a Golden Slam. Nevertheless, even with tennis on the Olympics, a Calendar Year Golden Slam could not have been accomplished by any player except Maria Bueno (1960) and Martina Navratilova/Pam Shriver (1984).

interesting. good work. So although a pretty big accomplishment, not many people really even have the chance to do it. not really any way of saying that is common or could be that big of an accomplishment since it only happens once every several years
