Dear everyone,

Over the last year, I've had the pleasure of picking up two Hanover cordovan shoes from Ebay. Given that the company folded in 1995, these are of course second hand, but I must say they are both beautiful shoes and incredibly comfortable.

Has anyone else any experience with these shoes? How would you rate their quality? They seem to me to be quite well made. Strong, durable good year welts, quality double leather soles, all leather interior, etc. They compare favourably to my pair of Aldens, and these two shoes may actually be as old as the mid 70s, but hardly show any wear at all.

See attached my two Hanover LB Shepphard cordovans. The first is a pair of plain toed bluchers. The second is a pair of long-winged bluchers. Both are in black.

Imo, Hanover is on par with the best of shoemakers in America's heyday. I have two pairs, a longwing and a tassel loafer in shell cordovan and they're very handsome shoes.

Keep them well cared for and they may even outlast you! There's a vintage shoe appreciation thread on this forum, join us there.

I have a pair of burg shell Hanover PTB’s and they are solid. However, you have the LB Shepard’s which were - I think - Hanover’s premium line.

keep them conditioned and they may outlive you.

And, yes, head over to the vintage shoe thread.

I definitely will. Thanks friend!

And yeah, they are flawless and at least 25 years old, if not older. I am caring for them very well.
