For all its faults, at least Hannibal seemed to be very well-researched and the enthusiasm for the subject matter very apparent. I'm afraid the same cannot be said for this latest offering from Mr. Harris. I was particularly amused by a scene in which Hannibal listens to a Bach string quartet

As with Hannibal, it seems Dr. Lecter is served best as a side-character to the main action (as in Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs).

I assume you're talking about the book hannibal and not the movie. I love how he runs-off with clarice in the end. Are you saying the new book is no good?

Btw. I finally got my clavinova delivered yesterday. It will be a long road back to grade 10 conservatory but we'll see how it goes. ^^

I guess I have to start with scales and stuff.

I haven't read it, but Entertainment Weekly rated it as one of the worst novels of 2006. When I heard that the book and the movie were being written simultaneously, I had some serious doubts. Now it seems that those doubts were well justified.

It's a shame, because both the book and movie versions of Silence of the Lambs were outstanding thrillers. The book Red Dragon was also outstanding, and Manhunter was one of my favorite films from the '80s (not a big fan of the movie Red Dragon, with Anthony Hopkins and Edward Norton, but at least it was "okay").

I think it's more than time for Thomas Harris to put this series out of its misery.
