I have recently made a batch of Camo wallets. I have a little one man operation in New Orleans, LA, and recently got these fun leathers in, so I decided to make a a few in each color. These wallets are ready for immediate shipment.
Thumb-slot Money Clips: $125
This money clip is crafted from glazed vegetable tanned leather from the famous Tochigi Tannery in Japan. This leather is very resilient and develops a rich patina over time. I have paired the Tochigi with an Italian waxed camo patterned leather. With time and use, the wax wears off to reveal the rich camo patterned veg-tan leather underneath.
This wallet features two exterior thumb slot card pockets, two inner cargo flaps, and an high quality stainless steel and brass clip. Each thumb slot pocket can accommodate 6+ cards. Business cards, additional credit cards, or receipts can be stored in the inner cargo flaps. Folded cash is held in place with the center brass clip.
All edges are hand burnished and polished to a matte lustre.
Money Clip V2 (cards inside) are $165
This money clip wallet is carefully crafted from two great Italian vegetable tanned leathers accented by an American Bridle Leather. This wallet is intended as a slim option for carrying your cash and cards without the bulk of a traditional billfold wallet.
3-6 Credit cards can be comfortably accommodated by the bank of 3 card slots on the right (more can be added as the wallet breaks in), with plenty of storage behind the assembly for receipts, more cards, etc. The left side flap is also intended to be a catch-all for receipts, business cards, etc. Cash is held in place with an high quality stainless steel and brass spring loaded clip
Due the wide footprint and thin design of this wallet, pressure is greatly reduced in your back pocket when seated.
The exterior of this wallet is a hefty 5oz Woodland camo leather with a medium-soft temper, it easily folds, and makes for a very comfortable pocket feel. Italian veg-tan is highly regarded for the depth of color it acquires with use, and over time this leather will darken and grow richer.
The interior paring of American Bridle and Italian Buttero is a deliberate choice as they are both strong, firm leathers, but that is where the similarities end.
The Italian Buttero has a firm temper, making it perfect for card pockets. This is a very unique leather, especially in terms of aging. Having no coating or finish applied, in the beginning, it scratches quite easily. With abrasion, the oils from your hands, and various environmental factors, the scratches will begin to fade as the leather darkens and is further smoothed by use. Those initial scratches become the base for the eventual patina that will develop, and really add an interesting visual depth.
To contrast the smooth, varying nature of Buttero, I have chosen an American Bridle leather to pair with it. This tough as nails leather is textured, highly finished, and has little to no change in color due to use. The relationship between these two leathers will be ever changing as the Buttero ages, and make for a great wallet interior.
