Hampton Hawes (jazz pianist)

This installment of the Connemara Jazz Series goes out Britalian. Hawes is, in my view, one of the somewhat-forgotten giants of jazz. You don't hear his name much these days but the guy could seriously swing. Played with that staccato technique that Red Garland often used. Would have never heard him but for an appearance on my Oscar Peterson Pandora station. I'm going to have raid my dad's CD collection to listen some Hampton Hawes. Even though dad passed six years ago yesterday, I still have not merged it with my music collection yet.
