Half an insole

I'm hoping someone can tell me what I am looking at in this shoe. I've gotten 4 men's dress shoes from yoox, all different brands (2 I sent back) and they all have half an insole in the back. Is this a so-called feature? In the front is a light-colored material. I've read about cork footbeds but I'm not sure if that's what this is and surely there should be a full insole.

So anyone know what this is and how comfortable it would be now and over time seeing as I can't wear it a full day to test it out in case I need to send it back. Here's a pic so you can see what I'm talking about.

It's called a sock liner, and iirc it's generally better to have half of one than a whole one. DWFII has posted about this in the past.
