Cut It Short or leave it longish.

If i do leave it longish how should i style it?
Should i gel it up like this (you can see my hair line even more though, but maybe i could always gel part of my hair over so you can't see my receeding hair line so much)

In the first link, which is the Vs. page, the 2nd picture from the left looks best. Although that's at about the time for a trim.
