Hair Product question

I have medium length hair and letting it grow, I keep it swept back, but the product I'm using leaves it looking greasy and waaay to shiney, like I'm an 80s used car salesman.

So what thes best to keep my hair looking more natural?

when you said product - what do you mean? hair gel, wax?

read this a while ago:
if you are using hair gel, for the wet look; you applied it to dry hair
for the dry look, you apply when your hair is wet

you might want to try aloe vera as well
