Every time I straighten my hair, it looks dry, damaged, and unhealthy. My hair is naturally jet black, but when I straighten it it lightens.

I don't know what to do anymore. I have tried hair gel, wax, serum, and hair spray and it makes no difference.

Is there ANYTHING out there to make hair look healthy after straightening?

I'm no expert on this one... but I'll take a crack at it (famous last words, lol)

Maybe your streightener is on too hot? or you're pulling the hair too slowly or too many times through it? (ie burning+drying your hair)
you might need some special products before or after to give it back some shine...

Your not straightening your hair properly. You should be able to straighten hair and get it as smooth as glass. How are you trying to straighten it?

Are you getting it chemically straightened or do you mean you're straightening it with the iron?

If it's the latter, you need to get a good straightening iron and use some sort of hair protecting oil on your hair prior to using the iron.

Also, consider getting a good brush like a Mason Pearson.
