Hair advice appreciated

I've been in a miss when it comes to what style of hair to have; I've had long curly hair, shorter curly hair, a clean cut, and so much more but none of those things seem to fit my face structure.
So after flipping through magazines, taking on styles againd and again I come here for help.

Although, with the reaction I get now that my hair is very short, I think I should have cleaned it up years ago...
