Hi, does anyone have any experience or opinions on Hackett wool overcoats? There is a nice one in this winter's collection, the only grip being that they do them in small, med, large fittings rather than suit fitting sizes. Are there overcoats more suited to the slimmer figure?

I wouldn't buy any overcoat in a S M L fitting, to be honest.

Some Hackett stuff is very good, but overpriced. Most of it, however, is just overpriced.

Yes I've heard a few on here say that before. I think I'll wait for the Crombie sale and get one from them perhaps. The Crombie coat I bought last year is very good fitting. I also bought one from Oliver Brown around the same time but find it a bit too generous (despite being a 38 reg) and the cut isn't as tailored as Crombie.

I tried an overcoat a few days ago and I thought it was overpriced (NB Paris prices for Hackett are much, much higher than UK prices, so it might be more reasonable where you are). I didn't think it particularly well-made. Also, I would have struggled to get a jacket under it comfortably.

I think Hackett's tweed jackets are good, especially at sale prices. Slightly trimmer fit than most, though I like that.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
