I do not know enough about Lobb's to know what the lie is, but I do appreciate the 71.4% feedback rating - for a guy with only ~ 11 feedbacks total.

Well, for whatever reason the auction is over due to an error in the listing.

They were bespoke John Lobb (London) but the seller was advertizing them as the RTW Lobbs made by Hermes. There is no way the seller purchased them new for $1250 in NYC...

He did not say that they were Hermes ones

SHOEMAKER TO HERMES...

He was simply saying that Lobb makes shoes for Hermes; perhaps to reiterate the quality.

Ah yes, you are both accurate and pedantic.

The shoes are Lobb St. James, which is not affiliated with Hermes. Lobb Paris is.

Those shoes were actually John Lobb (London), which has nothing to do with Hermes-owned John Lobb (Paris).

It was in 1976 (I believe), that John Lobb sold he Paris branch to Hermes with the right to use the name for bespoke as well as ready-to-wear shoes. Hermes produces bespoke shoes in their own Paris workshop, while ready-to-wear are made in their Northampton factory.

Both firms use the "handwritten" John Lobb signature in their bespoke shoes. JL (London) adds three Royal warrants, while JL (Paris) uses the signature on it's own.

As they used to say in the old TV series: "Confused, you will be, until you watch next week's episode of "Soap".

I was laughing because he stated a size, claimed he bought them himself in New York Store for $1250, and that he wore them four times. If he was indeed the original owner, he would have known that they are bespoke Lobbs from London, not available in New York, not sized, and that they cost a lot more than $1250...

I wonder if our own Mr. Harris called the seller out, so to speak...
