Went last night at around 6:30 to the Soho H&M, basically on a whim (was passing by on my way to a gallery opening). Had pretty much the opposite of Drew's experience. Was pretty quiet, still some people buzzing around the store but the line for check out was no longer than it usually is at Uniqlo and it wasn't a scene or anything. Most of the stock seemed to be there, but I wasn't paying super close attention. Actually most of the people there seemed to be soho/fashion people there to have a look/laugh, I felt like more than a few people had a smug kind of 'lol check this shit out' look. I took pics of the side-zips, the painted ones just looked too cheap to me, but the black ones seemed ok enough. Would not pay 300 but would consider for less. Generally was my impression of most of the stuff. If my wardrobe wasn't where it is right now I think I'd consider picking up a few things on sale. At retail it's kind of silly. I was attracted to the guitar case bag, but not for 4 hundo. :embar: :foo:

The quality of the side zip is not bad at all. The suits are also pretty decent with working button holes.

    +1 on most of this.

Stopped by the state st store today to browse the collection. There was absolutely no one else looking through it while I was there (at least the men's stuff) and pretty much everything was still fully in stock.

The boots were actually pretty decent- like ARW said the painted ones looked cheap but the black ones were ok... obviously not as nice as the regular MMM ones, but much nicer than regular H&M footwear. There was also a really thick navy knit (don't remember seeing it in the previews) that looked promising and felt ok but I didn't try it on so I dunno about the fit.

How did folks feel about the long camel wool coat?I did not want to wait in line for anything in this collection, but if they are still hanging around, this actually looks like a decent pickup (if it is anything like the pictures)

this was one of the better pieces from the men's collection. the fabric was very soft and had an interesting texture.
The lapels are cut off and attached to the inside. they were substantial and raw.
If i lived in a colder climate i probably would have bought it.

construction/material-wise i'd agree it's one of the better pieces. I personally am not attracted to the design at all but if you think it's cool it seemed alright. not sure if/how it buttons up so there's that question of functionality. ask someone who tried it on maybe.

The collection is decent. Probably the best H&M has had. It made me revisit alot of Margiela's old works and gave me a renewed respect for his work and why I got into fashion in the first place. I do feel that this collaboration didn't make any sense though. And it is probably the reason why there are still plenty of stuff in stock . It feels like they rickrolled/trolled all the tumblr/instagram victims who only know margellons from GAT fame and Kanye West cosigns. It was hilarious seeing their reactions upon realizing that avant garde means three sleeve dresses and celebrity endorsed sneakers.

yup, this was the piece I was most impressed with but didn't buy it for the same reason.

The SF store has the whole collection in full size runs if anyone cares.

overall I thought most items were much better constructed than I expected.

will stop by on monday, I at least want to see the camel coat to laugh, otherwise there will be this nagging feeling that I should have copped as it fits perfectly in my aesthetic. Might cop that blazer snow got.

How does the suit fit compared to regular H&M suits? Is it slimmer? Is it worth the extra cash?

I checked the collection out recently... I didn't end up getting anything but I found the women's wear much more impressive.

I was really giving this camel coat the eyeball. Glad to hear it seemed of decent quality, considering. A camel coat, without breaking the bank, was on my list this winter. Sounds like Chicago has a decent chance of having it in stock; hope I can make it up there soon, as my Indianapolis H&M aren't cool enough to get the exclusive stuff.

Can anyone comment on the fit of this coat?

I happened to be by an H&M this weekend that was carrying a lot of the collection, and I stopped in specifically to look at those boots. I'm a fan of the MMM side zips (like a lot of people on this forum), but I can't really afford them right now (I'm guessing that's also like a lot of people on this forum).

Short version: they looked pretty good to me and were marked as $300, but if I didn't know they were a part of the collection I would never have guessed they cost that much.... actually, I would have guessed they cost the same as "normal" boots from H&M, because that's what they felt like quality-wise (based on the leather, the glued sole, and how light the boot was). (It also said where they were made, but I can't remember the exact country, but not Italy or North America).

I didn't buy them, so I'm not going to guess how well they will/will not hold up (maybe the construction is better than it appeared), but I can say that at $200-300 it's not that hard to find boots (on sale) that are made from full-grain leather, have welted-soles, etc. Obviously part of the appeal in buying MMM boots is for their aesthetic, but anyone buying these should be prepared to receive H&M-quality boots that look like they are higher quality/more expensive, not higher quality/expensive boots that H&M just happens to be selling at a great price.

The real MMM boots are also cemented and light.

I went to the Austin, TX store today to check out the collection. They still had everything in stock apart from the sweater-print t shirt. I had my eyes on the wool blazer, sneakers, and tan loafers. However, the quality was pretty awful, not much better than the normal h&m stuff. Sneakers have a completely plastic upper than looks even worse in person than in the pictures. I was surprised by the working buttons on the blazer, but besides that it feels cheap and fits awkwardly. The loafers actually looked pretty decent and were 100% leather, but you can get much better shoes for $200. I didn't buy anything, but the loafers or side zips might be a good pickup on clearance if they stick around that long.
