H&M Slim Suit: NEED HELP!

I'm a very scrawny guy with small shoulders, wrists and hips. I bought a fairly nice 36R suit and got it tailored but it still wont fit me well (I'm 5'9 123 pounds, 19 yrs old). Thanks to SF, I've decided on buying some cheap H&M slimfit suits on ebay (I don't have a lot of money and who knows if my tastes change). The overall sentiment has been you get what you pay for, but they fit very well. I'm looking to get a 2011 Charcoal and Black H&M slim fit suit. I have a few questions:
  • Is $150 per suit around how much they cost ?
  • Would it be dumb to try a 34R? The measurements for the suit seem very snug but are still slightly larger than my frame (unfortunately I can't find any other 34's to try on). I would love to get the 34R if it's not too much of a stretch. Maybe they run large? IDK
  • Do they really look like this?
I really want a suit that fits well since most things don't, but does it sound reasonable that a 5'9 123 pound kid could fit comfortably into one? Any other testimonials about these suits? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

The pants for a 34R are tiny. The blazer fits me well, but the thighs are too tight for me so buy with discretion.

I have a tan linen suit by them. They definitely run smaller than most brands. Quality is pretty bad, so is the cut. Although, the cut is slightly better than most other mall brands. I rarely reach for that suit even though it's my only linen suit in a lighter color, and I live in California... Avoid if you can afford something better. However, the suit is the best you can do under $200 at the mall.

Also, they don't look like that picture. They have much less waist suppression. Your tailor can fix it, though.

Depending where you live, the suit will cost more like $250, than $150.

yeah depends on location and also which line. I bought a black label suit which is a better build and in canada so the retail was $350 + tax so more like $400.

they do a 34 which should fit your frame but the pants are a true 28 waist so check that carefully.

try doing cheapish MTM like Thick as Thieves

For almost every H&M suit that I bought (36R) I had to size up in the trou (I'm a 29/30 waist) due to, as fungz0r pointed out, the thighs being way to tight. But that was an easy fix at the tailor for $10. I have 4 H&M suits: 3 of the low-end polyblends and 1 of the higher end 100% 120s wool and they have all worn well save for a dropped button here and there.

Unfortunately for me, the pants for a 36 R would be too small, even after alterations.

Same for me that's why I'd swap them out for a 32W or 33W and then have them taken in and hemmed.

A little off topic but just thought I'd say that I admire the way that your fits show that having great personal style surpasses financial boundaries. Some people can look bad in a £7000 bespoke suit and some (such as your good self) can look extremely stylish in a £200 suit. It's not just the items that you buy, it's how you wear it. A good eye for classic looks and a bit of swagger more than compensate for a slimmer wallet. When I get a bit obsessed with scraping together more than I can afford for some item, your fits remind me that it's possible to look just as good without spending my mortgage payments.

In case that sounded a little too

, I don't think that you always get it right, but when you do, it's great.

Of course good photography and being slim and tall helps.

And smoking, which is eternally cool.

Cheers and you're absolutely right. It's all trial and error and I'm still making my fair share of errors but that's all a part of the fun of learning.

True. Once I got a better camera set up and I began producing better pics people got a better sense of what I am trying to do and where I'm headed with my own style and I started getting better feedback.

LOL! Yet, alas, the circle who agree with us on this has greatly diminished

Is that because of increasing social stigma or just plain old lung cancer?

Wow Pandarts you do look fly. Props.

Do you guys think I'd be able to squeeze into a 34R with maybe a 32 waist (im usually a 29/30 for jeans)
