It's like hearing that Tuttle Farm is going out of the family.

Why is it sad? They'll still exist but under the umbrella of LBD.

Plus, it'll be easier for me to get hold of some of the stuff as my current tailor has an account with LBD but not Lessers.

Even Hitchcock seems a bit surprised. And you would think he is very current with SR happenings.

At least they were not bought by some huge unrelated conglomerate.

Agreed, it could have been LVMH or some such entity.

Who can predict? But, as remaining production and sale of British cloth becomes concentrated in fewer hands, the stage is easily set for non-British ownership. American ownership of H&S and so on is benign, but that too will pass. This, in turn, leads to the whole thing going into the *******.

It's going to happen anyway, but theses lurches to the precipice are still sad.

+1

While it's retail ... that's what happened to S.A. Brigg ... bought up by one of the French luxury groups that attempted to launch it as a "luxury" brand ... that met when failure ... so they shredded it to hell and back.

Then again -- to use another retail example -- it could be like the New & Lingwood incorporation of Bowring, Arundel & Co.

Bowring lives, but in one man. Also, sometimes, things rise again.

Hence the need to participate in the "unfunded liabilities" thread!!

You can purchase all of the cloths you'll need for the rest of your life.

Are you speaking of the fellow who runs the little N&L across from the big N&L?
