Laura is a bad dresser, in the way that pretty much every woman in business or politics is.

That sounds chavanistic I realize, but I'm not advocating for a shrinking of their roles, just some better clothes.

I've heard nothing but great stuff about Laura, but she does look like she's had a bad facelift.

ruben . . . did you get a load of some of the female guests, who attended this gala? Some of their ensembles left something to be desired, as well. In some ways, women's wardrobes are more complicated than men's. It's not easy to turn out a woman, in an elegant ensemble . . . takes a great deal of skill, time, expertise, objective assessment, and cooperation from the client.

Hmm, I always thought it wasn't supposed to show below, like the Prince's.

The proportions seem off, the lines are sloppy looking, and especially the pants are horrible.

I think this pic shows a good example on the left and a terrible example on the right. Check out the pants. In the pic, it seems like even Queen Elizabeth noticed how horrible they look!

The juxtaposition in that pic is pretty striking. That said, I still don't see why it's any issue to be discussed. As already indicated, he doesn't care about looking dapper. So why don't we discuss outfits that are great rather than (selectively) take every opportunity to make fun of those that aren't. It just looks like a petty excuse to take a political jab.

I think we rank on all badly dressed politicians equally... if you can post up some Democrats, I'll be happy to help.

This just happens to be one of those rare occasions we can see actual people wear white tie. I don't see any harm in critiquing their outfits.

There are two traditions for the waistcoat. They can either show a little bit or they don't show at all.

I think current tradition--or what's left of it--dictates that the vest shows.

Compare the fit of Prince Phillip's outfit with Bush's--those pants look like they were barely held on with a belt that had too many notches on it.

Laura Bush just looks provincial.

So, if we're intent on critiquing, are Bush's legs that short, or is he just wearing his pants low?

In fairness, Prince Phillip is likely wearing those above his natural waist.
