Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat and selling my Grey Silks as well. As someone mentioned, depending on the material there is more or less stretch and this pair is one that has less stretch to them. I had the same issue with the selvedge cords, which Gustin told me they typically suggest 1 size up due to the less stretch; luckily I was able to return that pair.

If they don't fit, and have little chance of fitting, then you will just have to sell them at a (hopefully slight) loss. Not sure if Gustin puts the "size up 1 for this material" for these in the descriptions (like how they do for the loomstates) but it would be helpful for us buyers who just buy the same size & assume they will fit the same.

I'm a little surprised the Okayama Standard hasn't funded yet. I'm new to the Gustin scene - is 83% and 5 days left usually something that will generally close/fund?

Thanks - are they generally pretty lax in putting updates on closed/funded orders? I'm in on the Brown Horween belt from several weeks ago as well as the Pigment-dyed v-necks from early April. There's an update on the shirts from a couple weeks ago that says the shirts should have started shipping this week. I dunno - A little more communication would be nice... Have they been better or worse in the past?

Try not to get to hung up on updates. It get frustrating.

All my stuff aside from 1 were delivered towards the middle to end of the estimated delivery period.

If you like the fit it's worth the wait. Materials and construction are excellent for the $. The wait is the drawback.

Honestly, I mind the wait less than the lack of or erratic communication. I'm not stressing. It just seems like a very simple thing to do well, even if it is just "No update this week - waiting for more info from the plant - will post any information we get before next week if possible"

Quote:I guess I'm having a run of bad luck then. Like I said before, I'm not really stressing about it, but I'd just say to the Gustin guys if they're reading this thread that it is probably better to keep a schedule and follow up on statuses than communicate haphazardly. They don't have so many products that they can't keep up (I say that as a guy who ran a small web-based business with well over a hundred products).

I'm looking forward to the Dublin belt, the pigment-dyed v-necks and the Okayamas (assuming they fund...)!

Hey guys, I've bought a few of the Gustin jeans and am really digging the fit on the slims.

But for the fit of the button up shirts they make how much room do they normally have in the chest? I'm asking because of the few button ups I've gotten they fit me well in a standard resting position (relaxed shoulders arms to the side), but moving my arms/shoulders backwards is causing me some subtle (or not so subtle) pulling at the second button. Is this normal for the cut they make or should I go up in size to a large? (everything else fits decently)

I'ts a super annoying trait of their cut that they should fix. Sometimes you get lucky and your correct size has slightly more room in the chest, other times this effect is more pronounced. I have a couple shirts of theirs that I really like but this issue is driving me nuts on them.

Gustin really really needs to tweak this aspect of their shirting and if you don't like that affect I'd suggest not driving yourself crazy with buying the brand.

I have about 7 of their shirts and while I love the fabric selection, the standard pattern they offer leaves a lot to be desired wrt fit n the chest area especially. They really need to give a bit more room in the chest and slightly larger high arm holes.

Ive noticed the same thing in my last 2 shirts. They seemed inconsistent with the first few i purchased, which fit great, and not I'm hesitant to purchase any more. I thought about sizing up but i know the next size up would be too large in the body and the sleeves would definitely be too long. Judging by the sleeves in the picture, id say that is a good size for you but the chest is just too tight. Maybe they will look into adjusting their shirt fit in the near future.

On another note, I got payment confirmation for the summer cone denim on Monday and shipping notification for them yesterday. Im pretty excited as its summer and now I don't have to wait until the end of june/beginning of july for them.

I had to size up on their shirts. It's the only brand that I wear a Large in now.

Also noticed this. Tried to size up from classic M to slim L and it worked it chest but sleeves are now too long.

I thought about doing this same thing. I resisted due to the fact the chest measurement is the same for the M classic and L Slim. To me it seems like the LS would be a bit more baggy than the MC.

My slim button up shirts measure much smaller than the stated measurement specs on Gustin's site.

Does anyone else encounter this issue with their shirts, namely the slim fit?

I'm thinking I should go classic on all future shirts since Gustin has made all my slims smaller than stated.

I purchased a few different Gustin shirt sizes hoping for the perfect fit and didn't quite get there, but did come close.

I started with a classic medium and the chest was too small. It almost worked (before washing) but if I moved or breathed deeply the top buttons would stress which causes the shirt to not lay correctly. And I worried that it might shrink a bit more after a few washes, even on cold gentle with air drying. Too bad because all the other dimensions of the classic medium were perfect.

I noted that the slim large had the same chest but I gave it a try anyway. It had the same chest issue as the classic medium so I think the fit guide is accurate.

Lastly I tried the classic large. This solves the chest issue, which now fits perfectly. The sleeves are a bit long but tolerable, and various other dimensions of the medium were better on me. But the classic large works okay and the others do not so that's what I order.

The Gustin shirts I have received are all made pretty close to the fit guide and pretty consistent.

I have a ~43" chest so per the Gustin fit guide the classic medium and slim large really shouldn't have fit because they have a 43.5" chest. About 2" of extra fabric is needed in the chest. Its common for me to be forced up to a slim large in other brands to get a bit more chest room than a medium.

Mostly I think Gustin has their dimensions correct, but I think it would be nice if the slim large had an extra 1" of chest compared to the classic medium, ie halfway between the classic medium and classic large. Most brands seem to be this way and its helpful for some of us.
