It's longer than my Stutterheim raincoat and the sleeves on that almost cover my hands!
Sleeve length is from the center of the yoke to the end of the sleeve. So you have to factor in the fact that the XL is going to have a few inches added onto the shoulder, which isn't really the sleeve getting longer.
Wow that jacket looks like a steal for $139.
60 bucks shipping!? Nah, yer awrite Gustin
Yes but my medium Carhartt is 34" and the Large Gustin is over 37". It seems like a big difference to me.
Compared to my Filson x Levis Trucker in small, the Gustin Trucker in small has a slightly shorter back (.5"), longer sleeves (1") and roomier chest (1" flat). I would have to size down to the XS Gustin to match the fit of my FxL trucker.
Overall, the Gustin Trucker will have a more cropped look compared to the usual slim-fit Levi's TIII Trucker (note that Levi's also has a relaxed fit TIII trucker).
Yeah I based the comparison on the same measurement. A 20" shoulder measurement still gives an almost 29" sleeve
It looks ok on the model, sleeve wise, though no shots of arms hanging along side.
@Josh Gustin...can we get the model's shirt sleeve length and what size jacket he is wearing?
I'm a 34 sleeve, so a 36 sleeve in medium really is a bit long. A 35 inch seems, to me at least, a mid point for medium?
All - you are right on the sleeve length. Our movement between sizes was a bit off on the guide. It is from center back so do keep that in mind on the overall length as some brands measure differently. Updated now.
Sleeves on this jacket are a bit longer than our shirt in the same size. We found the sleeves, particularly on the waxed fabrics, tend to crease and rise up, so a bit of extra length helps.
That makes more sense!! Thanks Josh.
Shipping still kills it for me tho. Takes it into 30% tax territory
Usually USPS is the best value but this is the best they've got that allows us to use a box to give it a bit more protection.
Is there any plan to put a lining in the waxed jacket in the future? I had the unlined Filson waxed trucker and it wasn't terrible, but it would have been much more comfortable with a liner. Especially down the sleeves since I wore short sleeves a lot with this type of jacket.
If not, I can see getting one of these in denim in the future.
Thanks again for the reply, Josh.
I'm a bit surprised as I got a Filson wool coat from shipped from Missouri for 50 but I suppose the distance makes the difference
Josh, who one the jacket via FB?
Will you adjust the sleeve length if you do denim or do same "riding up issues" arise. I read your description on the site and see the sleeve lengthening was intentional: "add a bit of length in the sleeves so it doesn’t ride up."
We haven't sampled a lined version yet but we've been talking about it. I feel like the waxed canvas we use has a less wet feel than the oil cloth Filson uses. That stuff feels super when to the touch where as the waxed is a bit dryer.
