Post-soak, I don't see it being too different from any other denim you would buy. My thought is that the post shrink weight (density?) is the best time to compare.

Yes. However the majority of the denim is sandfordized so I woudnt expect much change. In the case of these or the loomstates you may see some change but that would only apply to spefic denims

I'm looking at something heavier than the 14 oz jeans I have now. Was considering the Unbranded 21 oz as well as the N&F Elephants. Obviously, the HA is a lot lighter than either of those but has anyone owned both? Interested in how they compare. at $81 the HA seems like a great deal.

Yes. Sorry I wasn't clearer. I meant that comparing unsanfordized denim post soak to sanfordized denim off the rack is the closest to apples to apples as it gets

I think the HAs are one of the best deals going for denim

How much did you size up? I sized up 2 for my Loomstates which was perfect. But I'm nervous about 12.5 Oz. denim stretching more post-soak.

My 501 STFs stretch so much that I have to size down 1 to get the best fit.

I sized up 2. They were suggesting 2-3 based on a 30min cold soak so, worst case, I need to use warm water

I can see the appeal but I'm far less interested in the funky color combos personally. I can't wear jeans to work and this color combo would limit what I could wear it with. That means I would probably only wear them 1-2 times a month. Depending how stiff they are they could take me 6months just to break in and it would be multiple years to have any signs of fading (especially with black warp). I'm not really all that focused on fades but it's a cool side effect of regular wear that I like.

Just not practical enough for me

All that said, I can enjoy an indigoXindigo or indigoXblack. I had a pair of the "darks" which had a brownish weft that was less in your face too. It's the loud colors that are deal breakers for me. Too gimmicky

Would have been down for the BlackxRed if it was a bit cheaper, like 100 or so
