Are there still companies that are making guilloche cuff links? I understand it is a bit of a lost art.

Antique by Krementz. $310

There are some stunning pieces by Faberge that are in the five digits as well.

How much would you pay for a pair, double-sided of course? $350-450?

I've bouth quality Guilloche for much less than 250. It depends on their quality in terms of both appearance (nicks, etc.) and quality of workmanship (intricacy of design, etc.). And rarity and metal, of course.

I've purchased for as little as $25 for common links with slight blemishes and the most I've spent is $150 for a fairly plain pair (blue with a white border) that are in perfect condition.

Of course, if you go to The Missing Link, which has a massive selection, you'll see most in the $250+ catagory.

Are those above sterling? $310 seems like a lot for those, imo. Well...I'm not real fond of that shade of green. But others might be willing to pay it.

I understand these are not the best example. I'm not fond of the color of the enamel or the guilloche pattern itself.

But if I were to produce new cuff links, blue enamel, in sterling, would you pay $350-450?

I would not. A couple reasons.

1. That's simply more than I will pay for cufflinks. It's beyond my budget.

2. If it were in my price range, I would prefer a vintage pair with "history".

IMO, many here would expect metal more precious than silver (ie: gold) and precious stones at that price point. After the first few weeks of the Talbott cufflink craze, many here did not want the "T" backed Talbots for $75 dollars. While those were single sided, they still retailed for $175+. Some members hard a hard time selling the Best of Class crest backed, which retailed for $325. It just seems to show how much of a "deal" members of this forum apparently seek in today's economy. Personally I would not pay more than $250 for guilloche (double sided) cufflinks in sterling. If it's gold or platinum, then that's another story...

In this economic climate, I would strongly advise against it.

IMO French cuff wearers are already a minority amongst shirt-wearers, I'd hate to consider the size of the market for double-headed cufflinks, let alone $450 ones.
