Gucci Labels - Inconsistent?

Hi everyone, first time poster, long time lurker here. I have a question that has been vaguely answered in previous, ancient threads, but not completely.

I'm trying to determine the authenticity of various Gucci labels. I own two Gucci shirts that I purchased from authorized dealers, and thus know are authentic. Both have the "Gucci Made In Italy" long rectangular label, with the size label to the left. However, only one of them also has a care tag to the right.

I've seen a variety of other Gucci labels as well, primarily a boxier rectangle with just the word "Gucci", as well as some long rectangle labels that also say only "Gucci". My question is, are Gucci labels just generally inconsistent from collection to collection, or are most of these fake? Very curious about this. Thanks

Yes, Gucci tags have changed over the years. Older Gucci items (late 1990's) often are the more square, larger size "Gucci", whereas many of the newer items have the long, rectangular label. I have a shirt from about 1996 with the boxier tag, while an item from 2005 with the rectangular tag.

Time will tell. If after a few washings they have shrunk substantially, feel rough as newspaper and the plastic buttons fall off, they are authentic Gucci.
