did a search based on espresso only, didnt yield much.

Looking for Toronto suggestions, downtown or west-end, but also interested in anything along the QEW corridor anywhere from Buffalo to Toronto... even off the 407 or 401 recommendations would be appreciated.

don't say starbucks please... and Tim Horton's... it should go without saying...

Best espresso i've had is right across the street from my office but it's in a little italian social club... so i basically can't go in there unless escorted by my italian colleagues. I dont know what it is, but those working class Italian dudes in there make a mean ass drink for a buck and a quarter...

Though my coffee shop visits in Toronto are quite limited as I haven't lived here long, my favourite espresso is in Parkdale and it's called Capital Espresso (used to be Blondie's). I've gone to a lot of other indie coffee shops downtown, but this one has probably been the best I've tried so far.

I would suggest The Green ******y. Its on Bloor West, quite a bit west actually, past Spadina. They roast their own beans and make great espresso and variations of the same.

They also sell a wide range of equipment for roasting, grinding and making espresso (although if you are interested in buying equipment, I would shop online - the place on Bloor is more of a coffeeshop than a store).

Funny, I was going to suggest a place called The Green Bean in Oakville, off the QEW at Trafalgar. It's in the town square of downtown Oakville and has a great atmosphere. -to the far right in the picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/7859392...n/photostream/

I've had many an espresso in Toronto. The absolute best espresso and espresso-based drinks are at the relatively new Sense Appeal Coffee Roasters on Spadina between King and Adelaide. The dudes working there are very "bro"-ish but take the coffee very seriously. Certainly the most well-sourced, well-roasted beans in the whole city (I have a La Pavoni machine and Baratza grinder and have tried beans from everywhere: online at Counter Culture and Intelligentsia, and locally at Green ******y, 49th Parallel, Bulldog, Balzac's, Te Aro, etc...and Sense Appeal's beans are by far the best).

Honourable mentions to Dark Horse and Te Aro. I've had horrible espresso at Green ******y and was also not impressed by the staff, which was unhelpful and disinterested while I was trying to buy beans.

My father, who is a fairly large coffee snob, swears by a place called Moonbeam in Kensington Market, just off of Spadina. I, however, don't drink the stuff and have no idea.

Was going to suggest this as well. Has good espresso as well as some pretty creative espresso based beverages.

Been there. Great coffee. In downtown Toronto, I love Dark Horse. EDIT: Is everyone on this site that's from Ontario, from Oakville? It'd explain a lot...
