yesterday, i bought a gray suit with a very soft white double windowpane pattern going on. i want to wear a white shirt and a maroon striped tie. there are some brown shoes i'd like to wear with this suit.

the only problem is that i really don't know if the suit and the brown shoes will go well together. any advice is appreciated.

P.S.- I will post pictures of them together if anyone wants me to.

It's fine. Do it. It will look better than black shoes. Try to stick to a darker brown.

Definitely no loafers.

If the suit is a light enough grey, you may be able to get away with the lighter brown shoes, but you're treading in dangerous territory. It has to be just right.

Pics would help.

I have to say though, I am a bit frightened to see pics. I fear you won't own the shoes to get this fully SF-approved.

Looks good. Nay, looks great. Colors really work well together.

Only... you didn't let us see the rest of the shoes. Are they bluchers?

Advice:

- Polish the shoes.

- Have the pants altered.

i will probably post the rest of the shoes maybe tomorrow. they look almost exactly like these => http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26sa%3DN
they're in a similar color too.
one more question, where do you think i could find polish for this type of brown? do you think that any store that sells suits may have some?

sorry for all the questions, i'm new to all this.

they're bluchers, so avoid running into any styleforum members and no one will know that you're wearing bluchers with a suit.

they're a little less formal then should be worn with a suit traditionally, but i think in todays day and age its no big deal.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
