Hi Guys,

I just bought my first oxford shoes and tried to polish them for the first time. After polishing them with "Saphir Pate de Luxe", I noticed some grey stains on the shoes.

Are they normal? If not, how can I remove them?

Thanks!

Not entirely sure where the grey is, but its more likely due to the tanning process of the leather, than the (presumably) black polish you used. As you will have seen in many photos, shoes take on a patina (well, the leather) after being used and worn many times, so I would just soldier on and keep the polish routine going. Saphir Pate de Luxe is one of the best out there, but you might also want to alternate with creams for nourishment too. Its a long process. If you used neutral color then its possible that this leaves a tint too. But all likely hood it is how the shoe was tanned and colored (Imagine the skins are not black on the cow!), so this is all part of the process of aging or just the life of the skins. Enjoy the shoes!

Thanks!

I don't see any grey spots here.

Do the grey streaks come out when you put on the shoe? If so, you're putting too much wax on the flexible parts of the shoes and getting the normal cracking off of the wax that result.
