I wondered if anyone knew of any RTW grey flannel trousers or suits in the UK? Anywhere from light to medium grey flannel.

Similar in a grey plaid or navy plaid, please

A modest budget with a maximum of £100 for trousers, £400 for a suit.

Thanks

OK I find the following both promising and disheartening -

Promising - more slightly unusual fabrics on the high street

Disheartening - it's a Mad Men fad, and possibly the harem pant wearers will now be wearing flannel ( but only for a season, so not too bad)

I've bought Reiss suits before, and been disappointed with poor quality - so I am reluctant to buy again.

The Navy windowpane is nice though....

This came in the post today. It looks pretty good, although the flannel has a modest sheen to it.

I presume it's worsted flannel and it must only be 11oz cloth.

Is slight sheen acceptable on flannel?

That suit tried on - minus alterations ( I've just rolled the pants hem up and likewise with the sleeves)

Too much sheen? I think a touch too much for everyday business wear.

I quite like it, fairly fashion forward I suppose but the cut strikes me as very good as far as RTW goes. The amount of sheen is hard to figure out from photographs but I'm inclined to agree it is a bit much.

I've often liked the look of Reiss stuff but never found anything that looks right on me apart from the occasional jumper.

I would not have thought the £500 Cordings suit would come with already-working cuffs.

The fit is pretty good for no alterations. The skirt flares a bit, and it needs waisting. The pants need slimming below the knee, but only minor stuff. It's a good fit.

The second photo shows the sheen in moderate evening sun. I think there's too much sheen, so will return the suit methinks.

I love the colour though and the size of the windowpane, so will save these photos for when I'm better off, and possibly get a MTM, or hunt down a RTW.

Reiss have many cool things, but seem to get little details wrong - this suit is a prime example, everything is great if they'd just toned down the lustre a tad.

The quality of Reiss stuff is also poor IMO, so I try to avoid unless they have something unusual. that said their ties look pretty good this season.
