the black calf and balmoral oxford design seems to be an odd combination with the double sole and country last.

Well, I like it. If you like it, and your wallet can take it, that's fine

Thanks all for the reply.

Do you think they are completely different from the Church's Burwood ?

I like the fat toebox, the only thing I'd want different would be a blucher lacing system instead of the oxford style it is now to further accentuate its casual-osity

overall I dig it

Do you feel weird when wearing bals casually? I ask because I'm just not really a blucher fan (except for some of the two- or one-eyelet varieties), and sometimes I wonder if some bals would be a'ight in a casual setting.

May I congratulate you with your purchase. I own a pair myself also with double leather sole. It is a great shoe made of fine leather. Quality is on level with my other high end shoes (Alden, Church's) I still remember the smell from when they were brand new. Mine are more than 4 years old and still in great condition.

However it is correct that they have more clunky than most full broque oxford shoes. But that makes them quite versatile. I use them a lot with an odd jacket/trouser. But they work fine with a suit. maybe not with trousers with very narrow legs. You can also use them with jeans or chinos if you like,
