We are trying to purchase another 1000 pairs of Grenson first quality close-outs, we are going to buy select sizing and hopefully a more complete selection in regards to styles this time. However; the price to us, which has not been completely negotiated as yet, will be higher most likely. Therefore, my qusetion to the forum, if we had to raise the price on this buy, at what point is a $625.00 retail shoe still a steal? please vote above what price you would be willing to pay. I will guarantee this, and most of you I hope do trust me, I will not price these any different than I did for the last purchase in regards to my mark-up percentage, therefore the price will remain consistent with my profit margin from the original pricing. If I can get this order at the same price as before, which we doubt, then I will keep the same pricing structure.

For those like me... who didn't knew what a Grenson was until I saw this post: http://www.grensonshoes.co.uk/ Of course, I still don't know anything about their quality. But at least now I know they are shoes

Grenson Masterpieces shoes, which is what I believe we're talking about here, are excellent. They're not John Lobb Paris or Edward Green, but they, along with Crocket & Jones Handgrade, are firmly in the second rank of English RTW shoes.

joseanes, two months ago about every other thread was about Grensons.

It's amazing to me that there are that many closeouts out there. I wonder if there is a large body of closeouts from other top English makers in the shoe ether.

At $150, I purchased every pair in my size that was available (3). At 175, I would probably still pursue them as aggressively. At 200 and above, I would be more discriminating--an excellent price, but not a steal per se.

Keep them at $150. Maybe $165.
It's one of those all-or-nothing things for me. At $150-165 I'd buy 4 pairs. At $200 I wouldn't buy any. That probably doesn't make sense, but there it is.
Also, though they are very well-made, they don't fit me perfectly. I find that the heal is very wide and my foot slips.

I purchased three pairs from Chris last time, and would be willing to do so again at $175--much beyond 200 and I would be more discriminating.

At $175 I buy two pairs at least. At $200, I buy 1 pair and anything above that I really have to start thinking hard. BTW, as an aside, I just got a summer job and will be wearing dress shoes everyday and I think I should buy 2 pairs. I'm thinking a nice dark brown and a pair in black as well. Any thoughts?

Alan, I am working on it, but there is more discrimination, damn did i spell that right, somebody ask jon to check me....some of the other nameless companies are a bit more self conscience about letting their merchandise being sold like we are doing...they claim it damages the integrity of the label....i still am at odds with that understanding, either you are a good shoe or your not, price should not determine your quality.

Grenson masterpiece is an awsome shoes. I have not tried EG or CJ yet, but they look and feel better as time goes on. $150 was total steal for the shoes.

Given that l have O/S postage and import costs on top, l would not be willing to pay anymore that $200.00.

I get the feeling that there are, although they probably don't reach the United States. Bengal-stripe has mentioned that there's a shoe store in London that carries overstocks of English shoes exclusively, and the existence of eBay sellers such as english-shoes (who sells C&J, EG, and JL Paris) suggests that overstocks and seconds can be had for those who search them out. And then there were the famous Bluefly EG Cardiffs...

What is still available I have left can viewed at benniesshoes.com, however we have not decided on buying a new shipment as yet, if we do, it will be in January nost likely, but it is all dependent on the price we can negotiate, as well as whether or not it is a price that can sell at a dollar amout people are willing to pay...so far it seems that anything over $200 is pushing the limit, and if the price is going to be what we anticipate, do not count on us making the buy.
