I saw these Grenson made in England boots in a used store but these happen to be brand new.

    Pic of boot:

They are here on their Grenson website for $645 https://www.grenson.com/us/vincent-mens-derby-boot-brown-russia-grain-leather-commando-sole.html

Being a casual browser of reddit, I heard the name Grenson before but have no knowledge of them. Would love to hear some thoughts on the brand reputation/are their made in England line good?

The Grenson website says it is made of Russian reindeer leather...thoughts on this? I only heard of calf and cordovan, how does it compare?

For point of reference, how do they compare to Allen Edmonds?

Side question: With commando soles and pretty chunky leather, do you think they will be able to hold up to rainy/snowy weather?

    Thanks

Grenson often get criticised a bit for their quality in some of their range and I believe they have shifted a lot of production to India.

Those boots you found look great, I personally would have bought them assuming the price was good?

I could be mistaken but they look to be Veldtschoen construction which makes them very water resistant.

I have no experience of that leather but i’m sure it would hold up just fine. I really like the grain.

I don’t have any experience of Alllen Edmonds being English myself, they’re not readily available over here but I would imagine the Grensons would easily be comparable. Correct me if i’m wrong anybody who knows better

Digging through the Grenson website some more and apparently these are from the Grenson One line which is supposed to be one of the higher end line

That sounds about right considering the leather and construction. Probably a good buy assuming price is reasonable.

Hi think that’s a decent price assuming they’re new. Not sure you could get much better elsewhere for that money.

I’m no Grenson expert but I think Grenson one are quite a high standard and are made in England.
