Hi,
Does anyone own a pair of Grenson Bleasdale boots and what do you think of them? Also any pics would be appreciated. Many thanks.

I sold mine. I was so disappointed with them.

Bad points

Colour

A dull putty brown that doesn't improve with age, despite regular polishing with Grenson dark brown wax shoe polish. My fault really - I wrongly assumed that they would get better.

Style

Departs from the lines of the traditional ankle boot. I suspect it's modelled on a modern army boot, but it's really such a terrible design. Style aimed a 'younger' market. Misses the mark. It looks as if someone has fiddled around with a pic of a modern army boot on an Apple Mac.

Leather

The leather is very soft and supple. Despite the commando sole unit, not suitable for country walking. After a gentle walk along a towpath I ended up with deep gouges in the leather.

Good points

Fit

Good fit (at least in my experience), very comfortable to wear.

Construction

Beautifully made, but to be honest that's it's only redeeming feature.

Shop around. Alfred Sargent do the "Culford", Crockett and Jones the "Coniston", Loake the "Shilton" and Tricker's a range of country boots on generous lasts. There are plenty of brogue boots and chelsea boots out there. R.M.William's "Craftsman" is a lovely boot.

I like mine a lot.
As stated above the colour is not great and this is to my mind the boots' major issue. Other than that I do like the modern styling as I wear them in a very casual way more SW&D style than MC. They are super comfortable due to the suppleness of the leather.
All they need to do is offer it in other more appealing colours IMHO.
