With this suit https://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/cla...S.html?cgid=classic-suits&from=overview-suits
I'm trying to decide between

I believe the blue would provide a nice contrast with the navy, but the navy tie would be more generally versatile.

More generally I'm looking for a tie similar to
If anyone has better recommendations. The Chipp's tie looks to have a much finer weave than traditional Grenadine tie.
The Kent Wang tie https://www.kentwang.com/ties/grenadine/grenadine-navy.html is a bit wide IMO for my stature at 3.5" and it's weave pattern not quite the same.

The KW grenadine tie looks like a grossa weave, while the Chipp ties look like a fina or piccola weave. The latter is more formal and I prefer that for a suit.

The navy grenadine is going to be more versatile than the blue tie for sure.
I sometimes will wear a navy tie with a navy suit but I think it is a little harder to pull off well.

I think a burgundy grenadine tie is as versatile as a navy tie and might work better for that suit.

I do enjoy the Chip's navy but am also worried it might clash with the linked navy suit from SuSu

Breakaway is all kinds of correct. The first one you posted is so small I think it looks like a piccola. The KW is a grossa.

Navy grenadine is a super versatile tie. I wear a garza grossa navy all the time, and often find myself reaching for it when I am unsure.

Breakaway is also correct baout the burgundy grenadine. I just ordered one from Shibumi and its great! https://shibumi-firenze.com/bespoke-ties/2731/grenadine/garza-grossa-bespoke-tie-burgundy

I have heard more conservative voices espouse the Fina as the safest choice. Grossa is definitely more of a standout. I personally love the texture that Grossa establishes. I find Piccola to be too fine and not as nice looking. Looks too formalized in a weird way.

If you are worried about width, Shibumi custom ties let you adjust length and width, can be as narrow as 7cm. If you are outside the EU, when you log in the price will actually come down as VAT will come off. Plus if you check out their thread in Classic Menswear section they have a permanent styleforum discount code. Great company.

Thank you for your comment. Shibumi is indeed very nice. I see your point with the piccola I too find it a little to "corporate".

I have zoomed in to try to identify the weave of this Grenadine tie. It doesn't look like fina nor a piccola. My guess a medium grossa weave. Or a Grenadine Prometeo ?

For someone who is 5 8" with a slender waist does a 3.5" tie look inappropriate due to its width occupying a large faction of the front of the body.

I'd like to stick to navy or a deep emerald color. I wear a lot of navy and have an aversion to navy suits with white shirts and red/burgundy ties.

Unfortunately it's proven slightly difficult to find exactly what I am looking for at a reasonable price point less than 100 shipped.
I've identified:
Kent Wang (seems too heavy a weave and too wide?)
Chipps (not a fan of the weave)
Charles Tyrwhitt (seams reasonable but very hard to identify the wave structure)

To me that looks like a grossa.

In terms of tie width - this is honestly such a hard question to answer I think. Coming form the opposite end (6'0 - 46 shoulder 36 waist) I tend to like a medium-broad tie. But today I'm wearing a somewhat narrow Brioni tie my wife got me that I quite like. I would probably prefer it a little wider, but i like it nonetheless.

Much common wisdom says your tie width should match your lapel width. A lot of horrifically....shall I say...."trendy" jackets have had narrow lapels for years. Its a very "modern" look. I see it in LA a lot and its kind of generally horrible in my opinion.

It think if you do 3+1/4 or 3+1/8 lapels w/ a tie around that you are pretty safe.
