I am thinking of having this jacket made up

I want to wear with lighter grey trousers.
What color tie would go well with this?

    I would think anything earth-toned, in a rough(ish) finish.

Good advice. Rust is an obvious choice.

would a dark brown work? or a blue that matches the subtle blue stripe?

Depends on the color tone, but yes, probably.

A brown tie, yes. An olive tie definitely too, as it is muted green and lies in between the rust and the dark green. That could for example be combined with a blue-white pin stripe shirt or a tattersall shirt.
