I've said in another thread that the best deals in suitings are in 44R, and here's proof. Â This Isaia (fifth suit down), in a classic pattern and cut, is less than $550 with the 20% coupon (34523) applied.

Do you have any experience with Isaia?  Just wondering if this suit runs pretty true to 44r...nice suit, but there are no measurements to really know if it'd fit for sure.  Ever order from STP before?  Are you sure that's a european 56? thanks

I think that the Isaia 56 will fit more like a US 46. Isaia's shoulders run a little narrow (but not overly so), but the problem would be the chest. A 56 Euro Isaia suit will have a chest measurement of like 50". My 50 Euro Isaia (same model) has a chest size of 44." The 4" difference gives the chest some nice swell, but 6" might be a bit excessive.

Now I am confused....I was looking at some european-u.s. size conversion charts online and on this board, some sites say that you do the basic "add 10 " rule where a 44r would be an EU 54r- Â kinda like here And some some sites say that it is more of a sliding scale where a US 44r is a EU 56 like here Which is right? Â I am a 43-44r and am trying to figure out if this EU size will fit.

Sorry to add to the confusion, but a 56L Isaia suit I got from STP was almost perfect in the shoulder and chest although I wear a 44R/L in US sizes. From what I understand, while the general rule is to add 10, Isaias run a bit smaller, so 56R would work better.

And besides, for this particular item, since there's only a 56R available, I would assume the big question is whether to make the purchase, rather than what size one should get.

Thanks for the feedback...I spoke to the online support help person and they said not only is there a 100% return policy but since they didn't have the answers to my measurement questions they would also pick-up the shipping. Done.

Hey, btw, when you say "almost perfect" in the chest/shoulder, was it a bit on the big or small side? thanks.

The tailor told me that the chest was fine, and the shoulder was on the outer edge of the range of acceptability, being slightly snug. My shoulders don't slope downward as much as the average person, and I don't know if that matters in fit, but it's out there, in case that does make a difference. Good luck with your purchase.

I bought, but ended up returning, two STP Isaia's - one was 54L and the other a 56L in a slightly different pattern. I am normally a 44L and the 54L was just about perfect with the 56L definitely baggy. I'd go with JN3 here and stick to the 'rule of 10' vis-a-vis your size.

STP does have a great return policy, so if you like the price give them a shot.
