I'm trying to come up with a list of sartorial minutia that have been argued over on StyFo. It's always interesting to hear what both sides have to say on these matters. (The camps are not always split 50/50 over these issues; sometimes there is a vocal minority of 10-25% on one side)

One of the most visible debates may be the one over odd navy pants. It actually came up again today in the Noodle tie thread. Navy pants have been discussed in detail HERE

Another such debate is the one over whether one must cover his waistband in black tie settings. I'm with the minority/Ian Fleming on this one. Have no issue with showing the white of a shirt beneath the top button, provided that the person is slim.

What are some other controversies like these ones? If you can think of anything, please post a link to the past discussion.

    Dark on bottom.
    White shirts.
PoW scale on suits and SCs

I'll tell you what is not a controversy, how freaking awesome I am.

    Good ones.

Since you're too lazy to link, I will do it myself for dark on bottom and white shirts.

Can you be bothered to think of the link to PoW scale? Pretty please?

    This is questionable. :D

If you really want to get people riled up, ask whether it's ok to wear an undershirt.

Odd grey worsted jackets are impossible (especially when worn with navy strides,)

One that boils my piss is whenever someone (like Clags, on occasion) posts a pic of an obvious hard three button jacket, some numbskull will reply telling him to unbutton the top button.

ALL of my jackets are ventless. If they didn't come that way I have them closed. Suck it haters!

What about the classic 'do you wash your dress shirt after each wear?' discussion? #CVStape

That wasn't a controversy. That was Reevolving being an idiot/troll and everyone else telling him to STFU. (99.9% vs. 0.1%)

Wearing a tie with no jacket + wearing a jacket with no tie.

Personally, I wear a jacket with no tie fairly often, but I'm not a big fan of a tie with no jacket. Although I'll occasionally take my jacket off during the day if I'm presenting a particularly engaging or exuberant lesson. (Even when wearing a tie)

Ascots/day cravats are always good for a controversy. Of course, I am firmly in the pro-ascot camp.

    Good one, link?

    Not sure about this one.

Do you mean non-tweed? A grey herringbone isn't going to elicit much controversy, but a light grey flannel odd jacket might, especially if paired with khaki pants

Very vague. Looking for specific minutia here.

    Link?

    Very vague again.
