I have some, all end-on-end, and I like them. They get worn infrequently, and are not the easiest to mate with suits and ties, but they make a nice change from time to time. I've never been drawn to plain gray broadcloth, but the end-on-end gives it a little surface interest. Mine have self collars, but a contrast white collar would look fine, I suppose. However, if I did that, I would do it in broadcloth and not end-on-end.
I don't own a grey shirt, but it's on my list of things to acquire this fiscal year, along with red, green, tan, and yellow shirts. When I envision these shirts, none of them are solid. They are all either end-on-ends, fine stripes that appear nearly solid, or wider stripes with a white background. I feel like that Tutee fellow wrote an essay about these shirt colours on the Lounge, but I can't find it now.
