This colour of the Pebble Grain Ottawas is really outstanding with the right richness in the reds and browns. The present one, though also good, are not as rich in the red tones. Wish they can bring back this colour for a future next run of the pebble grains.

Thought I'd try something different and wanted to specifically go with a comfy sole. The Brass Boots are not my thing, so tan suede it is! The first thing I noticed is that these fit about half a size larger than my LWBs, both 8.5E on the Leo. Maybe due to greater volume in the toe box (due to the flat welting in this style?) in the boots - I'm not sure - but I am considering trying a half size down. I was hoping for a light-weight boot good for our California weather, but these will not be thin sock friendly with the extra space. Surprised me, as my LWBs are comfortably snug with thinner dress socks.

PS - Yes, I'm a dead man if my wife sees this photo with boots on the center island in the kitchen!!

My British tan captoe boots are on the way and scheduled to be delivered tomorrow (completes my grant Stone trio along with the crimson Ottawas and the Suede Ottawas). Wanted a quick check on how they should be cared for before first wear.

Given that it is calf leather, I would assume its the usual routine of Renovateur, cream polish and a wax coat, and then its good to go? This is what I have been following for my Trickers Stows and its worked well.

Shouldn't need any of that treatment prior to first wear. That might work well when they actually need it, but you are talking some time out - for some of us that can be months or even a couple of years.

Renovateur can cause uneven finishing on brand new light colored calf so just be careful. Especially if any factory finishes are applied

Ive heard this for my burnished Stows as well. I'm now quite confused, since popular channels like the Hanger Project and several others continuously project the Renovateur as a great product for conditioning calf leather. Is that theory misplaced then?

It is a cleaner and conditioner, great for conditioning, but factory finishes tend to not be the best and will come off from light cleaners.

Shouldn't have to do anything to new GS shoes, if anything the Renovateur is a cleaner/conditioner, and may change the color a tiny bit. Whatever you do, don't use Renomat! I have had my British Tan cap toes since they were first introduced, and all I have done is damp wipe, brush and store with trees in them. The spot on the toe is actually a reflection from the lights
