Sorry for the delay! It is indeed lighter than the bourbon suede.
This is interesting. Mine is darker

Interesting, maybe @GrantStone had a running color change for that previous model/style.

At least the binding is the same on both shoes for each of you. There was someone in the Alden thread who has different color bindings on each up boot (which would really irritate me) and it was a special makeup so if he returned them, he may not have been able to replace them.

I think the guy with the different color bindings sent them to Bedos and they came back looking like they should have to begin with. Still shouldn't happen in the first place.....

Busted out the Honey Shell Edwards yesterday, and swapped the Saddle Tan diesels into the longer-term storage spot.

And today I went with the Midnight Suede Travelers

I got these specifically to see if I could do the sockless thing.

The answer is an emphatic "Yes"

Interesting.... Mine are definitely a much lighter piping. When did you buy yours? I bought mine when they first released bourbon suede.

Yes, they are both the same and both are lighter!

That would be terrible... Different on different boots. That's definitely a second type item, but Alden probably wouldn't be happy about such a small detail making it seconds!

I wear my Travelers mostly sockless, but if I’m going to be doing a lot of walking I find no show loafer socks are more comfortable. Same look, less hot spots.

Sockless suede travelers are winners in the warm weather. Too bad that weather has left Chicagoland.

In the OG rustic calf Ottawas today. While I’m a leather outsole guy, the GS studded soles are a step above the Dainite and Vibram options. These have pounded pavement and light trails in several US states and Canadian provinces.

This is pretty common as we have to use brown calf leather for a binding and depending on when we are making the shoes, the binding could come from a different stock (although it should always be a good match).

On a separate note, if you ever sit and look at the bindings used on various suede colors or try to choose the binding leather that is the closest match, it will drive you nuts because of the grain and texture difference. When choosing between a couple of options, we tend to lean towards the darker of the two.

Whelp...I did it again - my third Grant Stone purchase just arrived! The whole package is flawless. Since we’ve been talking boxes lately, this box is perfect. The contents inside were neatly packed and the most important part, the shoes, are perfect. Not one flaw. Love them! I guess I should try them on ? Thanks Wyatt and the GS crew!
