Wow, this is excellent. Can I ask what product you used to dye it? It's very even but still has highs and lows. Good work!

Enjoy! Thanks for sharing
3 coats of Angelus dye mixed 50/50 with burgundy and medium brown. Honestly could have gotten away with 2.

These really turned out well! I felt for you when I saw the pics of the water damage, but nice work with the dye job as I'm sure it took quite a few hours. Only thing I may change would be the welt color. I think a natural welt, AE chili (close to antique) or mahogany would have been a better for the welt color, but that's just one man's opinion.
Much better. I sanded them down with 120 then 240 then 1000. Took about 45 minutes per shoe to get them perfect. Then I applied a thin coat of Renovateur and let dry. Last I rubbed on a light coat of the medium brown dye to get a nice even color. Looks like something GS did themselves.

I was not a huge fan of the metal toe taps I tried so this time I got sole guards.

Also swapped to full rubber heels. Slight aesthetic downgrade but no more crunching sounds every time I take a step on pavement.

Would kill for a pool right now!
The rest of the story is: I paid for the pool/patio but my yard wasn't big enough, so put it in son's back yard 4 miles away from my house..Figure they will get more use out of it over the next 20 or so years. Granddaughter loves it, so that makes me happy.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
