I ordered a pair of the suede loafers! They're shipping out today. In January, I bought a pair of AE Cordovan Patriots is 7.5E. The left shoe fits. I had to stretch the right, and after a long day, the right still gives me some pain. I'm sticking with the 7.5E for the GS loafers. I really hope they aren't too wide.

I have a couple pairs of AE Patriots in 9D. They are tighter than I like.
My 9D GS Traveler loafers are just lightly looser. They are much more comfortable. I think you will be dust fine and love them.

Received the bourbon suede travel penny loafers earlier today. Surprisingly snug on the instep, moreso than the van last I think. Still, 9.5D was the right choice. Ran several hours of errands in them after they arrived, and no pain (nor heel slip) whatsoever. Would only do no socks / thin socks though.

As for what makes these seconds, my guess is a scuff on the vamp of the left shoe that took off some of the suede. Not balding, but reduced density and thus lighter. I had some medium brown Saphir suede conditioning spray on hand, so I tried spraying the area. That reduced the color difference by a good 90%. Luckily, Saphir's medium brown is identical to GS's bourbon shade, so I did not need to spray the entire shoe to avoid a dark spot on the vamp.

They are a good fitting loafer, have any photos of the Saphir "repair"?

Such a good looking loafer and price. It is killing me to watch the sale and know the D width is most probably way too much for my B width. Even if I had to pay a bit to return I might try against the odds.
My CXL PTB works but the lacing helps that (and a not too thin sock).

What size/brand B widths do you like to wear? I'd be happy to take a look and throw my $0.02 in...

We are finding that the loafer sizing is more of a personal preference, although when creating this last and pattern, our ideal fit would be a more relaxed feel. Say you wore a 10B, maybe our 9D or 9.5D could work for you on the penny loafer.

One thing we have been relaying to our customers with regard to our new loafer is the break-in. Not so much the stretching of the upper but the overall molding of the upper and insole along with the flexing of the sole. While this applies to all gyw products we have noticed that the transformation of the fit from the first few steps to one week later is very noticeable on this penny given the lighter-weight heel counter material (thinner piece of the leather), along with the thickness of the linings uppers on this particular model. Most of the materials are forgiving so while there is structure there shouldn’t be any “hot spots” or areas that have firm pressure.

Josh,
The AE 2042 Last in 11.5 b is about the only loafer I have that fits well. I hv the shell AE randolph in 11 b and it is just too loose in the midsole and heel so I need to sell. I was born with a skinny heel :(
I am a 11.5 b measured and your PTB in 11 D works OK for me but I can snug up the lacing a bit.
Some front fullness is ok in a loafer for me but mid and heel need to taper a lot so I don't step out of it.
