@GrantStone May I ask, why was the saddle minerva PTB with a leather sole discontinued? I would like to order one of these but only see the rubber sole version.
Apologies for the delayed response. That is one of my favorite shoes, but it was a poor seller. While a lot of people liked the look, the leather sole held it back.

@GrantStone Which leather is more water resistant and thereby suited for bad weather: Minerva or CXL?

Also, will there be a restock on crimson LWBs this year?

Thanks

Technically CXL should have the edge due to the amount of wax but since they are very similar in weight and have the same lining and construction, I have never found the difference in real-world settings that noticeable. For example, I have seen boots with minerva worn basically in farm settings for years and perform really well.

If you were caught in a 15-minute downpour, it's unlikely water would come into the boot, but if you had to walk through puddles that were above the welts, both would be wet.

We have some crimson LWBs coming next month.

Alright Thanks. It's the 15 min downpour I was thinking of.

Hey @GrantStone do you folks typically announce here in advance of any shell pre-orders or is it kind of wait for the email and every man for themselves? 🤣

Excuse the ramble on this one. I am an occasional GS owner (maybe 3-4 pairs, all since sold) of mostly loafers and though I am close to retirement and keep pledging to stop buying shoes I stumbled across an IG post on the marbled shell unlined loafer. Hopped to the site and they had one left and it is possible that it is my size. Grabbed it and we’ll see about the fit in a few days. My GS loafers have been 8.5D and as a mostly Alden guy, I have always been able to go down 1/2 in length with a corresponding increase in width. Will be curious to see if this works with GS as the one size available was an 8E.

In scanning the past few pages of this thread I didn’t see any posts related to what seems to me to be a pretty special offering so I was wondering if any fellow SF’ers grabbed the marbled shell and if so, any thoughts and pic’s?

I usually don't announce here in advance as our site has an email notification for the individual style and size. We always suggest customers to sign up there to be notified when that item goes live. Later that day we will send the main newsletter. The next pre-order should take place over the next few weeks for the honey glazed shell. Most likely, it will be the styles that are currently sitting in the limited release collection as there is a backlog for those styles.

This should work perfectly fine. I also wear 10.5E and 11D in our loafers.

Thanks for the response, I am signed up for Maduro whenever that happens again, but only check email every so often through the day. Just was curious if there was a better way to get to me

Shawn - I got the marbled shell loafers and they look, feel, and smell as awesome as you could expect. I’ll try to take some pix later.

My issue was sizing. I have 2 pair of Travs - suede and CXL. They are both sized 10D. Note, I have a few 10D in Leo and they fit fine. I also have some Leos in 9.5e and I think they fit a little better.

Both my 10D loafers are little loose with dress socks and especially no-show/sockless. Plus, these marbles are unlined, at least in the front. So, I took a chance and got 9.5D, against the advice of Wyatt. Sure enough, they are pretty tight. Not sure it will work. If I had a do-over I would have gotten a 9.5E and if it was a wee bit sloppy, so be it. I thought I was past these rookie mistakes, but guess not, lol.
