The new year has been good gents! I found my perfect size in the Leo last. These particular pair in my size gave me the feeling I hear about so much on here. This Kudu has so much character already and the boots are immaculate. Everyone here knows I look closely at my boots, and these are no exception. I have nothing but happiness for this pair. They are perfect! View attachment 2105113
That forest kudu colour looks awesome. Dark indoors and just the right shade of green in outdoor lighting.

I really like all of the scars also. They are so different from the field boot and I like it. Maybe someone else can jump in on this, but I believe scuffs and wear reveal a lighter green underneath.

Broke out the bourbon suede Ottawas from storage after a hiatus. Super comfortable boots.

I have a pair of the Dark Walnut derbies from a few years ago. Does anyone know of a good matching belt for this shade of leather?

I went a .5 size down from my sneaker size of 10.5 and I thought maybe I needed to go down to a 9.5. But then I also realized that I have basically no instep and the boots fit. Its just there is quite a bit of heel slippage even with a thicker sock.

Do others on the forum wear false tongues? I hear they add volume to a boot and make it fit better by creating a instep by adding more material in the boot.

I finally started wearing these again. I couldn't really wear these much last year because my nerves were still healing after a hernia surgery. The extra stiffness in the boots just was a little too bothersome on my leg nerves. But now that I'm much better, I'm finding these are working out. One thing I will say generally speaking about Grant Stone is that I noticed that the laces must be tightened very snuggly. If I don't do this, the heel slippage and stiffness is too bothersome. I can wear other brands more loosely, but it won't work with GS.

Those look very nice! What leather was it? It reminds me of 'ebony harness' from Red Wings. As for the heel slip, it is fascinating how everybody's take is different, depending on the shape of their feet. I have my own issue with Leo last, pinky rub, but one thing I never had to worry about in Leo last is heel slip - while heels feel pretty spacious, I never had a heel slip in those (unlike Red Wings). Now, sometimes I think that moving up half a size would fix the pinky rub... but that would likely bring issue of loose instep and heel slip LOL. Still, might give it a try one day.

Anyway, was wearing my 'dainite'/studded soled Storm Kudu Ottawas more recently, it is interesting how my impression of them evolves over time. Initially (wearing in the house) they were 'just fine', then when I started to wear them on my walks I hated those soles (that flat slap on the ground was so jarring), now that I think I am breaking them in and surface of the sole is acquiring some curvature side-to-side, that awful ground slap seems to be disappearing and I do not mind them again, and actually appreciate extra stability. Although my gait seems to be similar to my daughter's and I am already seeing sole wear on the toe (and only there), might have to fabricate some sort of rubber toe-taps as well after some time.

Yesterday was the first day in my cap toe boots. The Leo Last and fully lined inside are soooo comfortable. This rabbit hole just keeps going deeper. I want more! I don't roll my jeans, but I did it for reference.

@lfzhao5 I really like the garnet shell diesels, but I would just beat the hell out of them. I'm thinking about the dark burgundy Kudu Diesels. It would be my first pair of Diesel boots and I really like the mini lug.

Going by how your saddle tan boots have aged, I am looking forward to seeing how the forest kudu boots will age and patina with your kind of heavy usage. Sweet boots!

Speaking of saddle tan, here is where yesterday's motorcycle adventures with the kid led me.
