1 month in! I have learned the flat laces work much better. They allow the leather to form much better versus the thicker leather laces creating gaps. Just my personal experience.

Wow, those Dunes look great and have aged nicely.

I wfh as well. I used to wear RW Iron rangers every day pre covid. Now it’s only the fall/winter months on the weekends. I recently picked up some Edwards in natural Minerva (on sale) to rotate with the RWs, guaranteeing even more infrequent wear, haha. But they’ll last that much longer right?

The Dune really looks great tho.

Great looking wear after a month. Looks like you are really putting them to work. The sole seems to be wearing pretty quickly, but maybe that’s the nature of a wedge sole? Idk, I’ve never had a wedge sole before.

Thanks. I got them second hand from @manowar . How do you like your iron rangers? I've read a the horror stories about breaking in Redwings. I'm not up for that. Post some pics of the Edwards! Yes, I only wear boots in fall and winter as I run hot. No idea how some guys wear boots all year round. To each their own

I got the IRs in 2015. The break in was pretty brutal if I recall. But man, they fit like a glove. And I was able to get the cork outsole before they switched it to the mini lugs. I live in Texas, so I’m not about to wear boots all summer, and I’m not a cowboy :) . My first GStones were storm Kudu loafers this year, which I have been wearing during the summer. I wouldn’t mind getting another pair, and maybe trying out their coast sneakers. Here are some pics:

I'm really tempted by the Oak Street Trench Boot in natural cxl. I may try that later in the year if things go right. Any experience with them? Sorry for getting off track a bit.

So the Trench boot is on a pretty unique last. Narrow heel and very wide forefoot (EE-equivalent if memory serves) but the wideness of the ball narrows quickly toward the toes. My pair on Itshide commando in roughout distressed natural CXL was terrific - though the fit wasn't ideal with too much slop at the ball of the foot. Also had a pair in natural waxed flesh and they looked great. The quality control on both my Trench Boots was far above both my Lakeshore Boots so I wonder if they came from different factories. The Lakeshore last is lower volume and narrower.

Haven't worn my boots in months so I thought I'd give them a quick brush. Ignore the sold edge. I was messing around. I will send these for a Danite rubber sole shortly. I prefer rubber vs leather View attachment 1991005 View attachment 1991007 View attachment 1991009 View attachment 1991011 View attachment 1991013
My babies! The vamp breaks on that pair were always sublime.

Y'know the leather soles are no longer available on that model. A half sole may be all you need.

Those Saddle tans look lovely 😍 I'm wearing my saddle tan Diesels hard and enjoying watching the patina evolve as well.

Very nice! I thought to myself, I will not wear these when I start working on something. That lasted about a day, lol. Ended up realizing the magic of the horsehair brush on scratches.
Yours look fairly broken in, have you tried putting the original flat laces in them? I was really shocked. I like the look of the leather laces, but the feel of the flat laces is pretty nice. Tell me what you think.

Yes, mine are broken in and comfortable. The insole and footbed will take some time to fully mould though. This leather retains water spots permanently, even a few drops of rain have remained on the leather. Will need to see what a spot of conditioning does to them.

Mine came with the leather laces , not with flat laces. I like the leather laces which GS supplies, they become soft and pliable within a few wears. Maybe will give some flat laces a try, thanks.

Here are some on foot pics. Day 2 sort of. I wore these for half a day yesterday. Waiting on some laces from Guarded Goods to try some other options. Good chance they’ll all be a bit long unless I use the thicker round 48” laces or a different brand.
