Well it's a nice fabric.
Geez this pictures show a suit that, in my opinion, is just unacceptable. The back looks terribly messy, the sleeves look like they were cut way too large, the whole suit itself is shapeless... I could go on.
Hi GodAtum, have to commend you for posting these pics on here. Unfortunately I'm with the majority on here and can't give much positivity apart from the material being nice.
The jacket itself looks strange to me in that the shoulder area looks odd and not as well fitted as could be, I'm certainly no expert so this is my view..
The trousers seem too full for your frame and could have been more fitted/tapered especially towards the lower leg/calf area.
Your post is insightful - after reading Simon Crompton's blog I was seriously considering Graham Browne for bespoke in the not too distant future but having second thoughts now...
I live in London and it seems there are loads of tailors to choose from...
Thanks for your replies. To give you an idea i paid £1100 and I ordered it on 13th May so it took around 10 weeks.
I'm new to bespoke tailoring so thought it was OK in the fittings as Graham said it was OK. I'm very disappointed but unfortunately I am not in a position to take it back until later this year.
Thanks for posting the pics. I know very little about correct fit or tailoring, but even to my untrained eye that suit looks off.
However, I do know about correct posture, and the way you currently hold yourself will never do you any favours in any suit you wear. Hope you don't take this the wrong way. It's easily rectified and will make you appear as magnificent as your (hopefully) remade suit.
Edit: Sorry, I have to edit this post in case you think I'm sounding cruel. I'm trying to say that your posture is preventing you from looking as fab as you deserve to be.
I know it's a bit of a downer to hear these comments; but that is the risk taken when you ask for opinions.
I also have to agree with the people who posted before me; that it just isn't right. The suit looks like to was designed with no regards to your body type, but rather on a style that they were planning to use regardless (hence the OTR comments). Your body type appears to be taller and thin. The pants are way to wide in the leg and the jacket too wide in the arms; both causing you to look lost in the amount of fabric and it to buckle and bunch funny when it hangs.
I would take it back and ask them to tailor it. If they stand behind their work they'll make it right and you happy.
They might be willing to do some sort of rush fix on this. I would at least call and alert them to your unhappiness, rather than show up in 3-4 months, seemingly out of the blue.
what was the final cost?
hi godatum, thanks for the further pics. unfortunately they only confirm my earlier comments, i would not be happy if i had paid £1100 for that suit.
sorry if this is bad news to you, i understand it may be quite stressful for you to hear this, i only say it so that you are aware and can get the problems fixed.
as the guy above said, i think you should let GB know that you are unhappy as soon as possible. certainly sorting the trousers out is a simple job, sleeves/back are a bit more complicated but i think it's all fixable.
you chose a nice fabric and deserve, for that money, a better fit than that.
Thank you for your comments, they have been really helpful.
So to summaries I should ask GB to:
make the jacket arms more fitted
make the trouser legs more fitted
bring the trouser legs up a bit
Are the shoulders and jacket back OK?
Well, to begin with, the jacket arms would be a very large alteration... Very unlikely to fix. Trousers are a relatively cheap fix, even if they were to make you a new pair of trousers. You should ask for more shape to be given to the waist of the jacket. There is very little suppression or shape in the pictures. You should also ask for the back to be cleaned up. It looks messy, but that could also be due to your posture in the picture. Hope this helps.
I think everyone has summed up fairly well but as stated above the back and shoulders also need a lot of work on top of the balance issues, sleeve pitch being WAY off, sleeves too baggy, sleeves too short, lack of shape in general in the jacket (thought it looks like there isn't much of you). The balance may have something to do with your posture though. It needs a lot of work, almost like everything has been built up and made bigger to hide your frame, make it look bigger than it is if that makes sense which doesn't need to happen to make a skinny guy look in proportion. I'd say GB would be mortified if he saw those pics on here, though I assume he looked over the suit at your final fitting?
Anyway good luck with it, I hope you can get it fixed because 1100 quid is way too much to pay for a suit that looks worse than many off the rack suits I've seen.
GB was not there for my final fitting, it was his assistant. I think I was in a rush to get the suit as I had been waiting more than 10 weeks so was a bit fed up of it taking so long.
I think the trousers look fine- elegant in fact.
I don't think Graham himself goes into the shop very much any more - the day to day work is done by Russell and Dan. Both are good cutters and I am sure would be happy to fix any problems with your suit.
Was it 10 weeks from first measuring to completion? If so, that's really quite quick. I usually reckon on 3-4 months for a bespoke suit.
