I got a pair of Alden for BB cordovan penny loafers used - they are very nice and have recently been recrafted. However, I have been presented with 2 white insole things and 2 flat bigger insole things that clearly all fit on the heel. I am at a loss of what to do... Do I just stick em in and wear em? won't they come lose? They hardly just stay put. Do I just use super glue? Or should I find a cobbler.

Do you need to use them? As in, are the shoes too big? They should just stay in, dont use the super glue. A good pad should have an adhesive strip on the back.

The shoes are a little too big. however, there is nothing remotely adhesive on these insoles. They are Brooks Brothers insoles, so I imagine they must be decent.

I only have 1 pair of insoles and I always just shove them in and wear as normal.

They aren't meant to be glued.

I never had those heel only insoles, so not sure if those will slip. The full length ones should not.

the problem is it's too part. first there is a soft white thing that sits in the center of the heel. There already seems to be heavily worn versions of the same variety in my shoe that I can't figure out how to remove. Then there is a thin sheet of leather shaped like the heel of the shoe to fit over that. Thus unless I can figure out how to replace the soft white thing and properly installing the new one, I will end up having my new white cushion thingy under the leather piece moving around as I walk.

perhaps i could just duct tape it underneath...

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
