Well according to my micro economics course I took a dozen or so years ago, more competition will mean for lower prices. Good for us consumers!

There was a piece on NPR this morning about this announcement and they said that in 2015 they expect 80% of all books "consumed" in America will be in electronic format.

I have about 650+ ebooks in epub format already. I generally use iBooks to read them, but sometimes Stanza as well. I understand Google wants everything to be in the cloud but there's no way I'm going to switch to their service without being able to migrate my current collection over.
